Obituary: Robert Langston Thompson, retired Georgia pastor

Robert Langston Thompson

The Rev. Robert Langston Thompson, 92, of Tifton handed away Wednesday, Could 1, 2024, at Maple Courtroom in Tifton. His funeral service might be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Could 11, 2024, within the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church with the Dr. Harris Malcom officiating. The Rev. Thompson might be laid to relaxation at Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville. The household will obtain pals on Saturday, Could 11, 2024, within the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church from 2:00 p.m. till the hour of the service.

Born August 29, 1931, in Kathwood, South Carolina, the Rev. Thompson was the son of the late Boyd Lee Thompson and Anna Kate Warr Thompson. He was additionally preceded in dying by one son, Blake Andrew Thompson; and one sister, Gloria Younger. Earlier than retiring, he was a minister and pastored Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kelltown for a number of years. He was additionally a retired educator; and he was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.

The Rev. Thompson is survived by his spouse, Betty Sue Smith Thompson of Tifton; one son and daughters-in-law, Bryan Timothy and Barbara Thompson of Oglethorpe; one daughter and son-in-law Bethany and Martin Mahon of Wake Forest, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Benjamin Thompson and his spouse, Renee of Leesburg, Brandon Thompson of Atlanta and Walker Holloway of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and 4 great-grandchildren, Madelyn Thompson, Elizabeth Thompson, Wesley Thompson and Abigail Thompson.
