Prize-winning Hungarian organist Sándor Balatoni and acclaimed Hungarian-American violinist Philip Ficsor will current a live performance April 7 at 4 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, H and fifteenth streets, Eureka.

Christ Church, identified for its excellent pipe organ (constructed and put in by Kegg Pipe Organ Builders in 2008), continues its custom of bringing nationally and internationally identified live performance artists to Eureka.

Balatoni accomplished doctoral research on the College of Pécs and the Eastman Faculty of Music. He received first prize on the Zsámbék Nationwide Organ Competitors in 2004 and particular prize on the seventh and eighth Nationwide Organ Competitors at Salgótarján in 2004 and 2007. He has performed recitals all through Europe and in the US, performing in Budapest Bach Week, for Filharmónia Hungary, and within the Romanian Klausen Musik Pageant. In 2022, he performed the closing live performance of the East Texas Pipe Organ Pageant.

Additionally a prize-winning conductor and composer, Balatoni is assistant professor and deputy director on the College of Pécs, College of Arts, the conductor of the Mecsek Choir, the organist of the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra, and the accompanist of the Pannon Pageant Choir. Along with his Republican, Fulbright and Erasmus scholarships, in 2012 he acquired the celebrated Junior Prima Award from the Prima Primissima basis.

Ficsor is an enthusiastic advocate for modern American composers, specializing within the music of William Bolcom. As a part of the ensemble American Double, he recorded Bolcom’s full works for violin and piano, a recording Fanfare “strongly recommended” and for which Rodney Lister, writing in Tempo, described Ficsor’s enjoying as “completely assured technically and brilliantly vivid musically.” Born to Hungarian mother and father, earlier than his collegiate research Ficsor attended the Hans Richter Conservatory of Music in Györ, Hungary, the place he was enrolled as a violin scholar and realized to talk Hungarian fluently.

Ficsor acquired a Masters of Music from Yale College, a Masters of Music in Violin Efficiency from The College of Michigan, and a DMA in violin efficiency from Boston College. He has participated in quite a few festivals throughout Europe and the U.S., together with The Meadowmount Faculty of Music, the Holland Music Pageant (Netherlands), as properly because the Semmering Pageant (Austria). From 2006 to 2013, he was a tenured affiliate professor of music at Westmont School and is at present assistant professor of violin and strings space coordinator at Metropolitan State College of Denver, Colorado.

Balatoni and Ficsor are presenting live shows as a part of a school trade program between the Metropolitan State College of Denver and the College of Pécs. Their program for the April 7 live performance at Christ Church will embody works by Béla Bartók, Josef Rheinberger, Jules Massenet and others.
